The incident began around 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, when detectives from the Connecticut State Police’s Eastern District Major Crime Squad were called to a domestic violence incident on Skyline Drive in East Hartford, said WTNH News 8.
When police arrived on the scene they found a woman severely injured. The woman's husband, who has not been identified, then became violent with police and attacked them despite attempts to subdue him using a taser, the news channel reported.
Police fired at the man, who was killed. Two officers were also injured during the struggle, News 8 said.
The woman is in critical condition and the two officers are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The couple's two young children, who ran to a neighbor's house, are safe with family, News 8 said.
